We Must Defend Cambridge

As a lawyer for poor criminal defendants and for people living with disabilities, I know what it takes to stand up to power.  Now more than ever, we must make Cambridge strong and prosperous and welcoming to all, while defending our way of life from the Trump Administration and its cronies.

The assault from the administration may as well be on Cambridge itself. Immigrants, international students, medicine, biotechnology, research capacity, public transit, local infrastructure, and our higher education institutions: an incomplete but long list of pillars of our community--all explicitly targeted.

I applaud the City of Cambridge for its actions in supporting Harvard earlier this year, and for its initiatives on educating people on their rights. There will likely be more moments ahead of us that call for courage. As a Councillor, I will bring my own legal knowledge and respect for the Constitution as assets in helping the Council in its role to defend Cambridge.
